FA Cup-England Oldest Football Cup

FA Cup is the oldest Football tournament in England. It was first held in 1871.FA Cup stand for "The Football Association Challenge Cup".It run by and named after The Football Association.It involves all standard club to play against each other.It has 762 teams in this tournament now.This is a knock-out compettition.There are a total  14 rounds in the competition.Involve six qualifying rounds, followed by six further rounds, semi-finals, and the final. The competition begins in August with the Extra Preliminary Round, followed by the Preliminary Round and First Qualifying Round, which are contested by the lowest-rank clubs.The FA Cup has a set pattern for when each round is played. Normally the First Round is played in mid-November, with the Second Round on one of the first two Saturdays in December. The third round is played on the first weekend in January, with the Fourth Round later in the month and Fifth Round in mid-February. The Quarter Final traditionally held in early or in March, with the semi-finals a month later. The final is normally held the Saturday after the Premier League season finish in May. As well as being present with the trophy, the winning team also qualifies for the UEFA CUP . Beginning with the UEFA Europa League, the UEFA Cup place will be given to the highest finish Premier League team that has not qualified for The European competition if the winner of the FA Cup has already qualified.

The current Champion of the FA Cup 2008 is Portsmouth after it defeated Cardiff City 1-0 in FA Cup Final 2008.And the most succesful team now is Manchester United.
